Deutsch-polnische Informatikkooperation 2014
Start date: Aug 31, 2014, End date: Aug 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project is part of our additional qualification for 18 IT trainees who have graduated from a grammar school and it takes place at the end of the first year of their training. The three-week project includes a 60-hour C# course with a Microsoft certificate; furthermore, there are two-day visits to at least three IT companies in the Elblag area. The language spoken on this project is English. The [main] aim of the project is to enable the students to participate successfully in the European job market. The trainees apply for this programme at the beginning of the first year of their training. Places are allocated on the basis of the following criteria: a) sufficient knowledge of English b) software programming skills c) social skills In the course of the first year of their training the student are continuously given feedback concerning their behaviour and their competence so that they have enough time to improve in order to be able to participate in the programme. Former participants have told us that this project has not only helped them a lot with their careers, eg in finding an interesting job, but also in their personal lives: they have become more self-confident and are not afraid of working abroad. After a certain trial period we have now decided to make this exchange an integral part of our curriculum. Our partners (the companies our students train at and the chamber of commerce) like this exchange programme and support us. We are pleased that we can give our trainees a good start into their professional lives.
