DESARROLLO DEL PROFESORADO EN METODOLOGÍA CLIL Y MODERNIZACIÓN DE LAS METODOLOGÍAS APLICADAS A LA ENSEÑANZA DEL INGLÉS

TEACHER DEVELOPEMENT IN CLIL METODOLOGY AND MODERNISATION OF METHODOLOGIES APPLIED TO TEACHING ENGLISH. Sagrado Corazón de Jesús School in Zaragoza (SCJ) includes this mobility action KA1 within the School´s multilingual project so called International Learning Project (ILP). This project represents a clear commitment with language teaching and learning as well as learning through languages. It is part of our project the implementation of bilingual education in all school stages provided at SCJ through the CILE 2 program. It is a requirement and part of our School Development Plan (SDP) to have teachers with a high linguistic competence and mastering CLIL methodology applied to teaching content through a second language among our staff. Our KA1 action is designed and structured in three fundamental modules: MODULE 1: Key action to training in new methodologies applied to bilingual teaching. A total of 6 teachers will participate in structured courses provided by NILE (https://www.nile-elt.com). 2 teachers from kindergarten stage attended the course Teaching English In Kindergarten (Very Young Learners). 2 teachers from Primary stage attended the course CLIL For Primary Teachers and 2 teachers from Secondary School attended the course CLIL For Secondary Teachers. All the courses were taught at Norwich (U.K.) Module goals were to improve methodology and content teaching through the foreign language, more suitable attention to diversity and establishment of international relationships so as to carry out future jobshadowing projects with other European Schools. Standardization of our School?s methodology following international criteria was an essential goal of this module as well. MODULE 2: Key Action to improve linguistic competences. A total of 6 teachers belonging to all education stages provided at SCJ attended intensive 3 week English courses supplied by Concorde International (http://www.concorde-int.com) in Canterbury (U.K.). These courses? main goals were the design of materials to enhance the communicative aspect of the language, the study of contextualised vocabulary and the teaching of grammar from a functional approach. Increasing staff's assurance in their teaching duties, students receiving a better quality in English teaching and the contact of our teachers with others from the European Union so as to impulse students sustainable mobility projects and exchange programs were also goals of this module. MODULE 3: Key Action to the use of ITC applied to the dissemination of acquired knowledge and to the establishment of international relationships. All 12 teachers participating in modules 1 and 2 had to and participated in module 3. On line tools such as EDMODO (https://www.edmodo.com), Etwinning (http://www.etwinning.net/en/pub/index.htm), ARAGON BILINGÜE (http://aragonbilingue.educa.aragon.es), WORD PRESS (http://es.wordpress.com), SKYPE (http://www.skype.com/es/), DROPBOX (https://www.dropbox.com) were used so as to share knowledge with the European Union Education Community. Dissemination and transmission of acquired knowledge so as the highest number of teachers is affected by KA1 were the main goals of this module. RESULTS AND SHORT TERM IMPACT Improvement in participants? linguistic competences. Improvement in methodology applied in bilingual programs at all SCJ education stages. Increase in teachers self assurance performing their teaching duties. Standardisation of applied methodologies. Dissemination and free access of the teaching community to acquired knowledge at all levels (regional, national and European). Development of European conscience and awareness in SCJ?s teaching staff. RESULTS AND LONG TERM IMPACT Objective improvement in students? linguistic competence and in the results obtained by them in bilingual program subjects due to better teaching skills. Establishment of international relationships, which should lead to international jobshadowing projects, related to CLIL. Establishment of international sustainable relationships leading to future mobility actions and exchange programs within SCJ?s students and students from other European schools. Dissemination of results obtained through and thanks to the Erasmus+ program. European level dissemination of the actions carried out by SCJ through its multilingual project ILP (International Learning Project)
