Desarrollo de estrategias orales en contextos interactivos reales
Start date: Jun 30, 2016, End date: Jun 29, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

a) Context:The school offers language teaching to adults from age 16. Our students are demanding, as they need to use the target language in their personal and professional life. Our project's goal is to make adult learners improve their speaking skills by increasing their exposure to real contexts of interactive communication from A1 to C1 levels of the CEFR.Above all we aim to improve the abilities of one of the main groups of students we teach: secondary and primary school teachers who are working in the bilingual sections of state and private schools in Spain. Our challenge is to enhance their work by supplying them with better communication techniques to make their language more authentic and natural.b) Number and profile of participants:Our whole school is involved in the project since every teacher can play a different role either as a manager, tutor, secretary or as a participant.Regarding the participants, we must point out they are teachers with a wide experience in teaching English, French and German at all levels of the CEFR.Candidates for mobilities are university graduates with degrees in the different languages or with a solid background in these languages. They are used to teacher training so they will make the most of the newly acquired knowledge. For this mobility project there are eight teachers involved.c) Mobility activities:The mobility activities are aimed at a better ongoing training in linguistic, methodological and cultural awareness so as to improve the teaching-learning process of the speaking skill. courses have been selected for their focus on the acquisition of new teaching and didactic techniques which will improve the teaching/ learning process of oral skills. We seek to update our own language skills, to be in touch with the new pedagogical trends and with other professionals in Europe in the same situation.Such activities have been selected according to the criteria established in the preparatory meetings of our project (mainly eligibility and the reputation of the training centers). We plan mobilities to France / Belgium / Switzerland, Ireland / Britain, Germany / Austria .d) Methodology used for the project:The methodology is based on cooperation among all the members of our group. We set up regular meetings where brainstorming and debate are encouraged. The study for each phase in the project has been the basis of the meetings. We must highlight the revision of our students' results in oral skills, their comments on satisfaction surveys and detection of deficiencies identified by teachers and the different language departments. After processing all these data, we decided to focus our project on that particular issue: speaking skills in real communicative contexts.e) Brief description of results and predicted impact:The results will be greatly benefit the teachers involved, both personally and professionally for their ongoing training. Students will be our main objective. We will try to offer the best training in oral skills thanks to the teachers' updating of teaching techniques and linguistics resources. Moreover, our school will take steps for the future development of further European projects and participate in new professional exchange programmes.f) Long-term benefitsTo improve our students' performance in oral skills. To make our teacher students feel safer in their classroom work which will result in better teaching for primary and secondary school students. To promote in our school a dynamic exchange between teachers with regard to teaching strategies. To give our school visibility in our country and in Europe so that our language certificates may be widespread and valued in other European countries. To continue taking part in these and other programmes with an international dimension to form and qualify adult learners to improve their employability and mobility.
