"Derrubar Muros, Construir Pontes - Rumo A Uma Escola De Futuro"
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The need to address the professional motivation and to respond to the demands on adaptation of teachers to the social, cultural and technological changes implies a qualitative leap in service training of teachers. This training project was based on the survey of expectations and individual training needs of teachers in the context of our schools (by listening to teachers of several curricular Departments, the School Director and the General Council). The feeling expressed was that formation should not only give teachers new skills and professional knowledge necessary to implement the new programs, teaching methodologies and techniques, but also contribute to professional recognition and the performance of broader functions in schools (as coordinators of European projects, forming a typology "cascade", etc.). Teachers expressed the need to build a modern and updated school, forming students to European citizenship through European projects, using the introduction of CLIL in the curriculum, the introduction of new challenges in terms of special education, the implementation of good teaching practices, management and conflict resolution. Thus, our main intentions are: -Motivate teachers for the construction, development and dissemination of innovative teaching and learning practices (use of eTwinning, training teams for European projects) -Improve the academic success of our students in order to achieve the goals proposed by the Development Plan and Autonomy of our school in particular the level of English, mathematics and science; - Acquire Key competences (ICT, communication in a foreign language, new teaching methodologies in different areas of knowledge and cross curricular); -Make our school more modern, European and international through the development of European projects (Erasmus +, eTwinning ...); - Acquire a variety of teaching practices for reaching students with learning difficulties, the preschool and primary school students and students with special educational needs. The weakness at the level of communication skills in English prevents, in part, to achieve those objectives, as well as teachers’ participation in European long-term learning projects. The impact we expect is to increase communication skills in English, give a European dimension to the curriculum, provide an opportunity for teachers to participate in a European training to improve the teaching-learning process, through the sharing of best teaching practices and, at the same time enlarge student success, particularly in the areas of math, science, languages and other . The teachers who were selected to attend the training are representatives of various disciplinary groups; the school board of directors; the school library; special education, pre-school and primary level; math and science areas; coordinators of future European projects; and teachers who need to develop language skills in English. Candidates are a group of teachers with extensive experience in leading teams, dynamic and able to motivate their peers for future projects. These teachers will have as a future task the dissemination of the acquired learning knowledge and its results among their peers. The selection of content / types of courses in our training project took into account the strategic objectives defined in the autonomy agreement of our school. The attendance of the course "Enhanced English Skills" will allow an improvement in teachers’ language skills and will update more effectively their international resumes. The attendance of the course "Planning and Management of a European project," will give school a new, more modern and international dynamic. The courses focused on sciences, mathematics, ICT and special education will innovate, create and develop a set of activities that motivate students to school, bring modernity to the methodologies used, and provide an ongoing curriculum development and good practices leading to student success. The teachers will be better able to learn throughout life, share knowledge, use new technologies and will feel more motivated to teach. The attendance of the "coaching" course will enable participants to make school a better place for learning and teaching, giving them tools that enable the sustainable management of its human resources, improving interpersonal relationships and promoting personal and professional well-being on the target audience. It is the goal of our school to create a culture of quality in our institution in order to provide a good service to the community in which it operates.
