Derrière le Château : « la Banque de graines »
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Strange as it may seem, the simple act of exchanging seeds of plants grown in her garden with her neighbor's illegal. In our country, there is an official seed catalog that refers, forcing the consumer to buy only seeds that are listed there and, through official dealers. Thus, professionals and amateurs are being compelled to buy seeds that do not necessarily respond to their needs, all at a relatively high price because some of them cost several tens of euros 100 grams. Resistance is taking place. To fight against the dictates of the consumer society, some organic growers and home gardeners, advocating biodiversity and freedom to grow what they wish chose to keep it free and traditional trading system. Scholarship exchanges are set up in some cities, stands are emerging in the plant festivals and some websites even offer a dedicated free exchange of seeds among passionate service. The exchange project in Cognac would have the following objectives: - Undertake a participatory way a beacon itinerant allowing everyone to make and file its fertile seeds, seeds - To fight against food speculation by making the information on this topic - Invite the project participants and the audience to reflect on the patenting of life and hunger in the world (especially in less developed countries) - Provide participants form on the "Garden" teaching tool - Installing on-site Eco Gardens a collection of fertile seeds, available to members, visitors to the area, home gardeners and residents. And we will make a sphere, an envelope for these seeds, a place of free exchange. Our facility, as an echo to the landscape, as dramatizing what is happening here: a place for exchanges and meetings around our food. This production will be done by the youth of the project during their stay in Cognac. What matters to us is that the meeting between the fertile and spontaneous generosity became public, no pre-requisite knowledge. And that we would use. The bank of fertile seeds, it is the only bank that is trying to make shine! This facility allows us to bring a subject dear to our heart: the free flow and dissemination of fertile seeds, support for peasant agriculture. To recognize this is to recognize the work of the peasant, and support a peaceful and environmentally-conscious agriculture. The exchange will also be put in place during the celebration of nature and allow everyone to come and speak, communicate, share seeds and knowledge in a friendly atmosphere! The feast of Nature is a good opportunity to promote intercultural exchange and to promote dialogue between local people and young Europeans. The international youth meeting will be a great time they go to meet other young Europeans (French, Italian and Polish), local actors and local people, and the aim of achieving the dome housing the seed bank and practice ecological farming methods. The main idea is to exchange through this participatory exchange. Young people do not need to have knowledge on the subject but simply want to garden.
