Derliver Pre-School Alternative services (EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE)

Kindergartens are often too expensive or not easily accessible for children of families in remote rural areas with low socioeconomic background; subsequently they mainly stay at home without any exposure to early stimulation and education. Hence, The Early Childhood Centers aim at reaching out for disadvantaged rural communities, where children have very limited access to formal kindergartens, and where conditions for raising children in the home environment are also disadvantageous. The goal of ECC project is to support vulnerable communities, in rural and remote areas, by offering alternative pre-school activities and other types of social aid to children and families that lack access to such services. It aims to protect marginalized young children and families from social exclusion. This will be achieved firstly through supporting local communities to identify vulnerable groups of children and establishment of alternative education services in 5 rural cross border regions for children aged between 3 and 6 years. It is estimated that at least 2.000 children will benefit from the introduction of the mobile Early Childhood Delivery services. The area covered by the project refers to the geographical region of Thessaloniki, Serres and Bitola and its surroundings.
