DEPRAST – The Project of Developing Educational Programme for Railway System and Technologies

The DEPRAST project aims at developing educational programmes and curriculum for railway sectors in order to contribute to the revitalisation of railway and its operability. It will produce a 1900 hour training programme focused on core competencies required for the workforce to be employed in this sector and by this way answer to the needs of qualified workforce expressed by railway transportation. The proposed educational programme will be designed for the teachers and students at formal 3or 4 year secondary vocational and technical schools with the aim to harmonise railway training in EU countries. In order to develop the programme a survey will be carried out at the beginning of the project and will provide background material especially in terms of the core competences that the railway sector requires form technicians. Main results of the projects are represented by the survey and the educational programme. The teaching materials will be duplicated in various medium, such as electronic materials, printed material, CD Roms, videos. Valorisation activities will involve railway companies, vocational and technical training institutions, municipalities using light rail systems and will represented by the setting up of an intranet, a survey for the targeted groups in order to inform them on the project and its objectives, web site, promotional materials, meetings, seminars and pilot applications of the training programme at vocational and technical secondary schools in Turkey and Slovakia. Main target groups are represented by student and teachers of secondary schools.
