Inclusive sport is a youth interchange program, between Somatio Marathonodromos Phippides (Strovolos-Nicosia-Chipre) and Fundación Privada MAP (Ripoll, Girona, Spain). Both entities dedicate their efforts to the inclusion of mentally handicapped persons and organize sport and leisure events to improve their life quality. We are convinced that there is a positive relation between sports practice and physical and mental well-being. Social and personal relationships are promoted and it benefits the personal values and attitudes such as fellowship, perseverance, effort and teamwork. For a week, 15 young people from the Cyprian institution have visited us. They have accompanied by 4 instructors, to take part in an sport and leisure program, together with 14 young people, also with 4 instructors, from Fundación Privada MAP. These activities are both sport and inclusive ones and they were being organized having our environmental and community resources into account, as well as all the linked social agents. The main purpose of this interchange program is to improve life quality of the young physically handicapped participants. At the same time, other aspects such as the development of some competences related with sport practice, sensibilitation, inclusion and social participation of handicapped persons in communitarian contexts, they improved. They also have the opportunity to know and learn about different life styles and habits, through the relationship between them. Other interesting values such as companionship, solidarity, democracy and friendship. At the end, there were a general memory, with a general evaluation of the general and specific goals of each activity. There also were a personal evaluation made by each one of the participants. A wide diffusion was make through social webs, Fundacion Privada MAP’s web, local press and local radio and TV. This experience pretends to offer the possibility of getting to know other cultures and organizations to their participants, contributing to their mutual knowledge and the opportunity of living new experiences. For sure, new bonds of friendship created and we had the opportunity to travel to their country.
