Demonstrating the hygienic, energy optimized HYECON products for the foodstuff industry (HYECON2)
Start date: Jan 1, 2013, End date: Dec 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The HYECON2 Demonstration Action is a follow-up project aiming to bridging the gap between the research and development work and results created in the HYCON FP7-SME-2008-1 project (grant agreement no 232501) which ends March 2012. The HYCON project had, as its target, to address major market opportunities within the conveying industry, targeting in particular the slaughtering industry within meat and poultry products, with the aim of providing customers in this industry – and in the foodstuff industry in general - with energy savings, reducing out of specification production and reduced time and cost needed for cleaning. As such the aim has been to develop innovative products that has the potential to significantly increase the participating SME partners but, at the same time, equally improving the competitiveness of European industrial end-users.The objective of the current proposal is to bridge the gap from the R&D work in HYCON and bringing the innovative products to a stage where they can be commercialised. As such the objective is to demonstrate and validate the four different results: the HYECON drum motor, the HYECON CIP system, the HYECON conveying system and the HYECON drop belt conveyor solution. These will all be tested in industrial scale settings forming the basis for a cost-benefit analysis showing the superiority of the HYECON products in comparison to state-of-the-art. This will, among others, be done in the meat- and poultry-industry as this is the sector having the most challenging technology demands due to fouling of the belt by fat & proteins from the slaughtering process as well as having the highest cost for cleaning.
