From 2007 to 2009 the Swedish National Board for Youth Affairs (Ungdomsstyrelsen) have a mission to increase knowledge about life conditions for young people in Turkey and Sweden. The purpose is to make visible the potential of young people and to increase their active participation in society. The project includes different parts with the overall aim to strengthen the democracy process and to promote human rights. Within that work a will to carry out exchanges between four different organisations arised, with the aim to support and discuss democracy. The four participating organisations are the following: " YES, the vocational education centre of the social enterprise Basta, Sweden" RossTensta Gymnasium, Sweden" Malatya Youth Center in Malatya, Tukey" International Youth Change and Youth Center Club in Malatya, TurkeyThe goal of the project is to promote young people's commitment as active social entrepreneurs and as European citizens. In the exchanges 32 young people between 16-25 years of age from Turkey and Sweden will meet. Through activities and dialogue they will gain knowledge about each country's culture, traditions, and every day life and its choices regarding education, career, and leisure activities. They will also gain a better understanding of what is conditioning young people's choices in different countries.A strong focus will be to actively engage young people in the whole process from planning, and writing the application to carrying out the activities and evaluation. The project is planned from February to December 2010, in total nine months with two exchanges, one to Turkey in April and one to Sweden in August.
