Delovna praksa v Italiji
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Gimnazija in ekonomska srednja šola has a long tradition of educating young people in general secondary education, professional secondary education – economy and Matura course. The programme of secondary professional education which is provided by the school is economic technician and it gives students the professional skills which enable them to work in companies, institutions and public administration, and it also gives them an opportunity to continue their education. We provide skills in economy and business communication skills, independent planning and performing of projects using modern information communication technology. With active and team work methods we encourage the development of entrepreneurial qualities. Also we encourage the spirit of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. The students acquire their first work experience at school and in practice company, where, together with their mentors, they simulate company activities. Their skills are enhanced by compulsory work experience in the local companies, where they perform various tasks in secretarial, purchasing and sales office, and in advertising and other departments.A work experience in a foreign country adds great value to any profession, especially to a profession of an economic technician who can work anywhere from commercial to non-commercial fields. The crisis in current economic situation in Zasavje region limits the possibilities for employment in all work profiles. The companies with a positive commercial outcome mainly export to the italian market. We estimate that these circumstances will force our students to look for employment in larger towns and abroad, where the competition in the work field is high. This project's aim is to enable students to enhance their theoretical knowledge in a foreign country and to become competitive. Mobility is an investment into one's future because it enables students to be creative, innovative, to learn through their own actions in real situations. It also enables them to make decisions and to develop a responsible attitude towards their work, which makes them more independent. Furthermore mobility enables taking up new knowledge in a new environment, getting to know other cultures and customs and provides students with new, sometimes life-long contacts. Through acquiring rich experience and new trends in their professional field they will get experience which they will share with their schoolmates and others who will not be able to actively take part in this project. We wish to apply for a two-year mobility project in Milan. In the school year 2015/2016 we plan a 3-week work practice for 10 students of the economic technician programme. In 2016/2017 we again plan the same for 10 students. In both cases we plan to send our students to Milan in the last three weeks of October. The timing is important because autumn holidays are in the last week of October and the students would use this week for their education. As soon as the project has been approved we will invite the students to apply for work practice in Italy. They will be asked to provide a letter of motivation, Europass CV and a letter of recommendation from at least one teacher. Additional criteria are the marks in professional modules and English, an active role in practice company, communication skills, as well as an active role in charity and other school projects. For the selected students a 5-week course of basic Italian will be organised. Before going to Milan the participants will be developing their skills in human resources management through writing a motivation letter and Europass CV and acquiring a letter of recommendation. They will be developing the skills of documenting their own and other people's skills and qualifications, independence and communication skills. Learning Italian will provide them language skills which are a good basis for the project.Work practice is the best way to introduce their future jobs to the students and it will make it possible to acquire even better professional skills, they will improve their knowledge of English and Italian, of modern work practices and ICT, their independence and self-esteem. Social cohesion will be developed through work challenges and accommodation. Their intercultural awareness will also be developed and we expect our students to continue further education in Europe and all over the world and later to use life-long education possibilities to increase their competitiveness in job market. After finishing the project the students will receive Europass mobility certificate, work practice certificate and international mobility project certificate that can be added into their portfolio. The experiences will be disseminated by the students to younger peers in workshops, interviews, website, FB, radio and others. We believe the project will have a long-lasting effect on our students with keeping the contacts and enhancing their skills with studying or working abroad.
