« Discover Mayotte – Discover Luxembourg : Exchange to change » is a youth exchange project for youngsters with less opportunities, taking place in two parts built on the following objectives:-Live and share the values of laicism between two countries of different faith-Strengthen citizenship of young people built on solidarity, committment and responsibility-Promote substainable progress and the respect of the environment The first part of the project will take place from August 10th, 2016 to August 20th, 2016 at Mayotte (days of travel included).12 luxembourgish youngsters aged between 15 and 20 years, coached by 4 professionnals and 5 volunteers will meet 12 youngsters from Mayotte, aged between 15 and 18 years, coached by 4 local professionnals and all of them are going to live an intercultural exchange at the Gîte du Combani at Mayotte.The exchange is going to help to discover Mayotte by activities in the sea, treating the protection of the environment, the chances of employability of young people in new activity domains and to be in favour of the intercultral and interreligious exchange. One of the objectives will be to use sport activities as a tool for non-formal education helping to strenghten as well the health as the well-being of young people. Questionning around the economical value and the durable effect of local tourism respecting ecological aspects and nature will be part of the exchange project and will be developped in the workshops with the local professionnals. The project could open reflections on the employabilty of the youngsters in new domains of activities. Workshops on religious values between youngsters from Mayotte (in majority moslems) and those from Luxembourg (in majority catholics but rarely active in their religion or belonging to other religions or none of them) will help to discuss the fundamental values unifying both groups such as freedom, fraternalism and solidarity.The second part of the project will be organized from December 26th, 2016 to January 6th, 2017 (travel days included) with the same group of youngsters from Mayotte and Luxembourg and their professionnal and volunteer coaches.
