Découverte des métiers de la logistique, de l'exploitation des transports et de la vente
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our project includes this year a new section which is the logistics and transportation section. Originally, twelve students were concerned eleven and one teacher. In reality, eight students ( four students in BTEC national diploma in selling techniques and four students in transportation and logistics spent three weeks in Malta to do their last internship of the European section in the lycée les Alpilles in Malta. A teach in HVAC did a job shadowing placement in the Mcast in Malta for a week. We are targeting several goals. in linguistics: thanks to the participants who have improved their oral English. The discovery of selling techniques, transportation and logistics jobs thanks to the implementation of vocational skills. The professional behavior was also included. It is a must in every kind of jobs linked to partnerships with clients/ suppliers. That internship was necessary to validate their diploma which is the first goal of our students! A better access to work and better chances of success was also a targeted goal especially if the students want to further their studies. The integration in the daily life of Maltese families but also in the companies along with cultural visits was part of the cultural goal! For the teacher in the job shadowing placement: After the visits of the MCAST, teachers from our school planned: • To implement a future partnership for the HVAC sector. • To discover the Maltese way of teaching and the professional methods of this sector. • To discover a new culture especially through cultural visits. The outcome At the end of this internship abroad, we can consider that most of our goals were fulfilled. The students improved their oral English as the marks obtained during their oral exam may show. Indeed four students who took part to this experience ( a result 100%) had a very good mark whereas only two students out of five who stayed in France had a good mark. For their exam for the European class we still don’t have their results but we may infer that their results will be better than during their training session. Concerning their goal in link with the autonomy: the participants managed to deal with the bus schedules, their orders at the restaurants ect…) Concerning the cultural goal: the students visited La Valette with a guide and they were able to discover its history and architecture. They also visited the typical fishing village of Marsaxlokk. Some students visited the Gozo island, the town of M’dina and Mosta. The participants discovered the Maltese way of life, their eating habits thanks to their stay in host families. We can conclude that the cultural goal and their European citizenship were achieved. The relationships we have had for several years with the intermediary organism: Mobilite International Malta.( Mrs Vella) and the host companies helped us to fulfill our goal. We have more firms to welcome our students: Honey Home Furniture, Von Brook, Camilieri group. Miss Vella is in charge of the relationships between our schools and the companies. She takes care of our students during their stay and in link with the team before, during and after their internship. In the firm the trainees accomplished several tasks in their respective companies: reception, selling techniques, orders, reception of products. They adapt themselves to the working methods. They took into account the gaps between the French and the Maltese working methods
