Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project background:With the aim of a uniting Europe, both students and teachers need to be sensitised and motivated for this task. The project management is a means to promote intercultural skills and thus the international opening of our school. The resulting contacts with foreign schools and resulting synergies will be of central importance. Taking the current refugee immigration into account, improving intercultural skills is particularly important for us because these skills should be incorporated in the future into our school program and will sooner or later change the curricula. The participating colleagues teach at our vocational school classes of multicultural respectively international background that qualify for a university access. Students are, for example, of Turkish, Afghan, Serbian and Russian origin. Cosmopolitanism is a prerequisite for the objective of our school. In the wake of a world unrest, under age young refugees have been taught in so called ‘pre-school classes’ at our school obtaining the German language and culture for the past two years. In preparation for university studies and their requirements in project management, projects in cooperation with medium-sized local and international companies are annually performed at our school.Project objectives:The issue of training is aimed precisely at our training needs. Colleagues work in this training (project management) on issues that are relevant for European and international education projects - from selecting topics on the application and implementation up to the final report. To work with international partners we consider the combination of project management issues and intercultural ones as very helpful.Number and profile of the participants:Two colleagues, specialized on secondary education teaching multicultural classes, focus their efforts on the integration of the European idea at our school. They have a good knowledge of foreign languages and are also well traveled. The enthusiasm for intercultural coexistence and work is want they want to pass on to their peers and students.Description of the measures:Participation in intercultural project management training courses.Methodology for project implementation:The course provides participants with an understanding of the development, planning, execution and management of European projects. It is also intended to provide an overview of the relevant European funding programs.Description of expected results, impacts and potential long-term benefits:We expect the following effects on the participants: an extension of competence in project management and in the intercultural field as well as more flexibility and competence in dealing with students with a migration background. In addition, we hope to be able to inspire other colleagues for the topic EU and European project work this way.For our school and our students we finally expect European contacts to launch an exchange program that offers an insight into both, the cultural and technical differences of the participating countries respectively cultures.
