PROJECT
FINISHED
The Project intends to translate books from the Danube countries, most of which are members of the EU, and whose languages connect 150 million readers from Germany, Austria, Hungary, The Slovak Republic, Croatia, Serbia and Romania. The project’s main objective is to introduce to the Bulgarian readers famous and honored by literature prizes works of contemporary European authors from the Danube countries. The Danube seems to spring from the very depths of the European history. For thousands of years the River has been cultural as well as transport bond. No only passengers and goods have been traveling the River but it has helped ideas and cultural influences to be molded, exchanged, accepted and adopted. Today the Danube is a symbol of the United Europe and the ideas of intercultural cooperation and exchange. A central instrument in achieving these objectives is the literature. The nations of the Danube basin are as different as alike. Their past is turbulent, their present – exciting. All of them have seen the same ordeals in life, but have found different solutions. The Literature is the foremost function of the human creativity and as publishers we believe that the introducing contemporary literature masterpieces to wider public will surely strengthen the bonds between the nations united in Europe.
