Danube Border Police Cooperation in the HR-HU border area (CoPo)
Start date: Aug 31, 2011, End date: Dec 30, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project aims at improving overall regional security and will contribute to all cross-border development. This will be achieved by establishing a HU-HR Common Contact Point Office (CCPO) ensuring simplified, swift, secure and efficient cooperation between border policing partner authorities. As a result close cooperation shall be established between Croatian and Hungarian border police, among other things, by preparing a joint river patrol service and the introduction of 'in-advance-sent' passenger list (UN PAXLIST) as a RIS service, vital for the effective and smooth border crossing of the Danube vessel traffic.  Achievements: Looking to improve the border control of the river Danube, the partners were working on improving the co-operation between the border police services from the two sides of the river. A new, joint river control system was set up with a Common Contact Point Offi ce, making the exchange of information and co-operation much easier and more eff ective. The newly introduced border control system also enables easier identifi - cation of passengers and goods crossing the river border and allows for better results in crime detection and prevention.
