Curriculum ontwikkeling tweetaligheid
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

From our vision of learning a modern foreign language, we assume a natural process of language acquisition. “Students aquire their new language in an authentic learning environment in which the use of the target language is necessary and natural.” From this point of view, we do not use a course book and we choose instruments that mimic the natural learning environment as much as possible. The English Teacher Training Programme (ETTP) helps to improve the quality of English. Teachers are trained and immersed in the English language en follow courses to improve their didactic qualities. At present, 4 of our teachers have passed the Cambridge FCE exam. The basic principle is that every teacher will take the exam. In addition to the course (ETTP) and exam (FCE) we see it as a great value that teachers become more professional through an exchange program. Teachers were immersed for 5 days in the English language, became more proficient in their didactic qualities and have visited English schools. To assist in the development of an English curriculum we have the privilege of the help of native speakers, but there is also the need for external expertise. Continuity of expertise is also a recurring topic at seminars and trainings. Finally, I would like to mention the purchase of teaching materials. We teach English using an Early English Curriculum (ECC) which is a great thematic source book. To carry out the curriculum learning materials (e.g. books) are needed.
