Culture and language diversity in Hungary
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Jul 16, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Context: The Alliance Française is an international network which is well established and especially developped in Hungary with 5 different Alliance in the regions. In its work to promote culture and language diversity, we are led to develop all the different aspects of what brings together such countries as Hungary and France. To this respect, the EU is central in the AF programs. Teaching a EU language to other EU people brings us to daily refer and build EU values, history, aims and perspectives. Furthermore the field of culture has highly benefited from the increasing integration of its country members, which guarantee us that not a single local project of ours would be build without a EU partner, no matter at what level. Pécs being furthermore at one of the EU borders, our activities create a strong sense of belonging. Our EVS motivation is largely led by the desire to embody this belonging in a young volunteer . Objectives : - To promote access to culture. - The discovery of a "near stranger" for Hungarians learning and willing to develop themselves in a european frame and this near stranger that is Hungary , at a EU border. - The discovery of the functionning of an association - To provide volunteers a non-formal educational and intercultural learning experience - This project could contribute a lot to their future employability - The volunteers have the opportunity to realize a project within the area such as cultural projects, with a local impact Participant : The Alliance Française had been looking for a motivated young person willing to discover another country, its life style and habits, its people and way of thinking. Camille CHAYNE was the candidate chosen through a fair process of selection. Activities : The working environement of the volunteer is of collaborative type. Therefore the volunteer took an active part in our organisation’s daily work but was also able to implement her individual initiatives. The majority of the activities took place in the Alliance. - activities at the Alliance Francaise for its members (welcoming members and students, quizz, board games using non-formal methods, children's afternoons, researching films and subtitles for cinema events, being in charge of the multimedia library, animating the conversation club ...) - programming communication and creating supports (Facebook, website, flyers, posters...) - organization of yearly cultural events's calendar (month of Francophonie in March, international festival of Theater...) - workshops animations (schools, high-schools, university), organization and participation to children's summer camp Results and impacts : This project provided opportunities for the volunteer for intercultural learning and for discovering another culture and language. Through her work, she also had the chance to develop new skills ans competences. Moreover, through her contacts with a wide range of participants she will have a long lasting effect on the local community.
