Cultivons la paix
Start date: Sep 15, 2015, End date: May 14, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project called « Cultivating peace » is a project of a youth exchange between French and Tunisians. It will take place in the town of Chenini, near the city of Gabès, in the South of Tunisia. The project is divided into two steps : an advance planning visit on September 2015 from 27th to 30th, and the youth exchange on October 2015 from 18th to 26th. The project is led by D'Ecouves Verte, a French association, and organized in collaboration with ASOC, a Tunisian association. Twelve teenagers from each country are going to participate in the project. They are between 15 and 18 years old ; and twenty of them are participants with fewer opportunities (geographical, social and school difficulties). Each group is accompanied with two leaders. The teenagers are actors and raise their awareness on the protection of environment and the defence of peace, throughout the participation in activities such as exchanges and intercultural discoveries, in a journey of collective life, in the creation of theatrical piece of work and in the preservation of the Oasis of Chenini. We think those topics are priority under the current circumstances. The teenagers are involved in each step of the project, to reinforce their independence and their skills of organization and action. This project is conveyor of many apprenticeships for the youngsters : mainly on their behaviour and their social skills, but also in the acquisition of knowledges and savoir-faire. The aims of the project are : -Improving knowledges between persons from different cultures -Reducing the prejudices between teenagers from the North and from the South of Mediterranean sea. -Raising the awareness of teenagers and citizens on the stakes of sustainable development and on the respect of environment -Participating in the building of peace between Europe and the Arabic world -Acting to create harmonious relationships between European and Mediterranean citizens. -Accompanying teenagers in the building of their own identity towards their role of citizen. The impact of this project is very strong at a local level, with the rallying of local actors and the broadcasting of the results in Tunisia and in France. A time of assessment and exchanges with the inhabitants of Chenini is planned on Sunday, October 25th, during the highlight of the youth exchange. This project has been the fruit of a partnership built since 2010. For the first youth exchange that we realize with the association ASOC, and for the first time in Tunisia, we would like to realise a bilateral exchange. We hope that this project will reinforce our relationship with this partner, in order to realize other youth exchanges in the future and to open to other partnerships, with a higher number of participants.
