Crossroad of Challenges
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Lithuanian Organisation "Socialinis veiksmas" ( Applicant/Sending) sent 1 long -term EVS volunteer, who was hosted by Georgian Association “International Scout Centre Rustavi (ISCR)”(Receiving Organisation). Project title: "Crossroad of Challenges" Venue: Rustavi, Georgia Duration: 6 Months Service dates: 03.12.2015-03.06.2016 Rustavi is the third biggest city in Georgia (approximately 116 000 residents), but unfortunately rather few youth organisations are based and have activities there. So the project’s mission is to unite and support local youngsters, to promote available initiatives and non-formal education activities for young people and children from Rustavi city. EVS Volunteer and members of hosting organization participated in casual staff meetings, different activities with local youth and municipality in order to promote and develop European values, youth policy, Erasmus+ possibilities and multicultural dialogue. Volunteer acted like a member of organization during all processes: during planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities of different projects. Also volunteer led language club and artistic/interactive activities for local youth. It helped to encourage local youth to participate in various activities and to be active citizens by implementing their own projects and solving local and global problems. EVS volunteer and local Georgian youth exchanged their experience, their views on numerous issues, thus breaking down any stereotypes, eliminating prejudices and experiencing similarities and differences between different European countries (especially between EU and non EU countries). After the project we are planning to expand our experience and goals among other organizations (schools, colleges, universities, youth centres), paying a big attention encouraging NGOs from Rustavi to take part in Erasmus+ and influence youth policy. We expect that volunteer will apply knowledge and competences gained during her EVS in her future job as well as she will spread the information and experience about European Voluntary Service, youth work and youth policy.
