Crossing the border - rediscovering a common space
Start date: Apr 30, 2004, End date: Aug 30, 2005 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project aims primarily at fostering the overcoming of cultural barriers, ethnic, religious, linguistic, economic, political diversity, to build a strong European identity that can be shared by the young generations in a peaceful growth open to cooperation. To this end, the project offers several meeting opportunities to the students. The project is structured in three work sections. The first regards History and Memory. It is a search to rediscover a common space on both sides of the border in view of the shaping of a new identity in the EU context. This search allows for a detailed analysis of the dynamics of the social, cultural and economic context in which the young find themselves today. The aim is to investigate the attitude of the youth towards history. The second deals with the issue of Literary and Artistic Expression. The activities envisaged are historical - literary as well as artistic-urban. The period under consideration spans from the Thirties to the aftermath of the Second World War. Lastly the project deals with Expressive and theatre activities. This part is structured in two phases. “I viaggi di Marco” (“Marco’s journeys”) are guided readings performed by the students. There follows the preparation of a theatre rendition, inspired by Marco Polo’s voyages. In the second phase, “Raccontare il confine”(“Narrating the Border”) , the students dwell on the perception of the border, on the cultural aspects of the territory. The project ends with a collection on paper of the writings by the students on the issue with contributions from the guides-teachers and the cultural mediator.
