Schools in Finland cares too little about the cultural heritage. It is not visible enough and experienced by students as something old and boring. We want to highlight our Finnish and Finland- Swedish heritage. Through contact with Göran and Christine Schildts Foundation, we have noticed that the Greek culture permeates the entire society and all ages. By job - shadowing , we want to see how teachers endure the cultural heritage in the Greek school , mainly in the subjects of visual arts, drama, dance and music. In this way we get new tools and methods to implement the culture in our school.
The six participants from our school will be visiting the school in Lakki for five days. They follow the teaching and document what they experience through pictures, film and text. Participants should have a genuine interest in culture, have interpersonal skills and willingness to transfer the methods to their own school . Participants form a group that is thinking about how culture could be highlighted and appear in our new curriculum .
After the visit exhibitions are planned, student contact is established and our culture is more visible in everyday schoolwork.
In the longer term creates a permanent link between our countries. We are the window to Europe for the pupils at Leros .
