Cross-channel Centre of Excellence on Innovative M.. (Cross-channel Centre..)
Cross-channel Centre of Excellence on Innovative Materials for Industrial Applications (Part II)
The collaborative and economic aim of the project is to strengthen and stabilise the new cross-channel centre of excellence created during the previous Interreg IIIa project (Phase I, Project no. 121). The latter is offering new opportunities for innovation and knowledge to the aeronautics, automotive traditional industrial sectors (metallurgy, fluidics, etc.), high-tech, and biomedical industries. This is almost unique in Europe, and has the aim to be an attractive research centre with international visibility in its field, with positive outcomes for cross-channel companies (e.g. knowledge transfer, technological surveys, accompanying projects), including participation in education and the mobility of young researchers. The scientific aim is to continue to develop new active structures of magnetoelastic materials with giant non-linear properties started in the previous project, with emphasis on the development of industrial and medical applications. Such applications include for example new acoustic or ultrasound sources for high frequencies or high power, new ultrasonic imaging of therapy techniques, new types of micro-sensors, microactuators and microsystems.
