Cross-border tourism to experience Sami Culture
Start date: Dec 31, 2011, End date: Aug 30, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED

Lule Sami region that spreads in the form of a belt from the town of Luleå all the way to middle Nordland in Norway, is a large and exciting area. There are many opportunities for cross-border cooperation and there are quite a few touristic attractions that spread beyond the borders of one country. It is easy to travel between the countries, but it is much more difficult to book a pre-planned trip. The main purpose is to examine the possibilities for a future implementation project aimed at developing cooperation within the field of tourism between Norway and Sweden, as well as business as a whole. Many factors have to be considered and a lot of information needs to be collected. A thorough approach is required as this is a new area of cooperation for the region. The aim of the implementation project that would follow, will be to, in different ways, come up with a number of quality offers as well as to increase cross-border sales which in turn will create more companies and a developed business structure. It is understood that the preliminary study will answer the question whether there is a window of opportunity for an implementation project and, in the affirmative, what such a project shall focus on.
