Cross-border sustainable use of geothermal resources in Madaras and Mehkerek (Geotherm)

The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of life of inhabitants in Madaras and Mehkerek by using the natural renewable geothermal water resource for producing energy that would serve the benefits of all community (households and local businesses). The project aims at developing technical studies and designs on how geothermal water is used to create a centralized system that reduce utility costs and pollution in the entire cross-border region. The expected results are the actual studies and designs and raising awareness of population on the importance of sustainable use of natural resources in energy production and protection of the environment.The general objective of the project is increase in the quality of life of inhabitants in Madaras and Mehkerek.The direct beneficiaries of the project are the inhabitants and local businesses of Madaras and Mehkerek. The total number of inhabitants in Madaras is 3.021 and in Mehkrek 2.140. Currently, in Madaras, local businesses start to flourish. In Mehkerek, the only economic activity is agriculture in solarium. Approximately 700 families in Mehkerek cultivate and sell vegetable form solarium.The main specific activities of the project are: elaboration of studies and technical designs.Among project results: 2 Feasibility studies, 2 Technical studies.
