Cross -border school-work integration
Start date: Apr 30, 2004, End date: Jun 29, 2005 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project aims at setting up a cross-border collaboration in the field of education, to foster the inclusion and cooperation of the two minorities in Slovenia and Italy. It consists of a series of activities of a cross-border nature promoted by secondary schools in Trieste, in cooperation with two Slovenian Middle Schools (equivalent to Italian secondary schools). The project consists of two phases, one theoretical-preparatory, the other practical-technical. The other activities envisaged include a number of meetings between the teaching staff of participating Italian and Slovenian schools, while others are aimed at the students who take part in a series of meetings / exchanges with other students of the same age from other schools both in Italy and Slovenia. The students also become familiar with the business world through visits to company premises both in Italy and in Slovenia, and have the opportunity to learn from up close about the running of simulated enterprises. Workshops are set up in cooperation with Italian and Slovenian business associations, thus allowing the students to analyse in depth the problems of the business world and of the labour market in the province of Trieste and in the Slovenian cross-border area. This theoretical phase is followed by a more technical one, during which the students participate in training internships in local enterprises. Participation to internships is also useful in order to practice the English language. Lastly, it is envisaged to set up Slovene courses for the students of Istituto Carli in order to facilitate understanding and socialising.
