Most people in France and Flanders still use their car as a major means of transport. To encourage the population to use their bikes for daily, recreational and holiday destinations, the public authorities inboth countries develop cycle paths in and between cities. The Véloroutes Voies Vertes (VVV) (green cycle paths) are based on this idea. Many itineraries already exist between France and Flanders, but there is noreal consistency in infrastructure and sygnage.Through this project, the partners want to harmonise and extend the cross-border VVV network. To this end, they improve the offer and access to these itineraries by ensuring a continuity in the routes and harmonisingthe development of infrastructure and cross-border facilities. As a result, the locals now have the habit of using their bike more often and help promote this means of transport. The main goal is to make this network a real European bicycle destination.
