Cross border chemical-ecological and water rescue system
Start date: Dec 31, 2012, End date: Jun 29, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The strategic objective of the project is to strengthen the cooperation between the state fire and rescue services of the border area in order to support and increase capabilities and efforts required to deal with accidents and elimination of its consequences. At the same time partners seek to improve management of accidents and coordination in order to ensure security of the population, environment and property in the borderline area. The need of such a project is justified by the current lack of provisions for joint cross-border rescue actions which limits the quality and efficiency of rescue works in case of chemical-ecological and water rescue accidents. The main problem is the general deficit of knowledge and equipment of rescue forces in organizing and carrying out specific rescue and decontamination works. The project will be realized in Lithuania, in the counties of Alytus and Marijampolė, and in Poland, Podlaskie voivodship. Expected Results: One of the solutions is to equip rescue services of the border region with special rescue equipment and to organize trainings for increasing competence.
