Criminal Justice Social Work
Start date: Oct 1, 2011,

Europe is facing many great challenges that result from the need for integration of policies in the area of freedom, security and justice in Europe (as stated in the Framework decisions). These challenges can be met by the contribution of European education in the field of Criminal Justice Social Work (CJSW). The partners are brought together in order to improve European cooperation between public justice professionals and education and training institutes. To support the integration of policies in the area of freedom, security and justice in Europe, the partners aim to develop a set of both high quality teaching modules and modules, according to the probation Rules of the Council of Europe, for continuing education in the field of CJSW. Universities and universities of applied sciences (for both initial education of future professionals and post initial education of already working professionals) will develop and use these teaching modules in close cooperation / partnership with public justice organisations (probation services, prison services etc.). The partners, who represent different backgrounds and policies in relation to their national educational programs in CJSW, will benchmark and combine the already existing learning materials, evaluation and examination procedures. Next, the partners will further develop the materials and procedures and add new materials. All this will be combined in state of the art modules on both bachelor and master level. This project is highly innovative as it not only works from the educational perspective but also from the perspective of justice organisations like correctional services and probation services. Strong cooperation and contribution from educational professionals and professionals working in the field is needed to make an important contribution to the integration of policies in the area of freedom, security and justice in Europe.
