Creativity together: From youth to youth
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Rota Jovem is a non-profit Youth Association based in Cascais (30km from Lisbon) which has been promoting and supporting activities for young people (aged 16 to 30) for more than twenty years. Rota Jovem's projects are open to its members (currently more than 1000) and also to young people from the community in general. The philosophy of the association is to give youngsters the opportunity to develop their ideas and projects with the support of the staff. The two EVS volunteers will support the work of the team in the different areas and activities and will also have the chance to develop their own personal projects and activities, e.g. in the field of sports, music or arts. In the first four to six weeks of their stay, the volunteers will take part in a language course and be introduced to the association and their activities as well as the local community. They will get to know the projects and activities of the association and can start develop own ideas. After this introductory period, the volunteers will engage more directly in the tasks foreseen with full support from the tutor and from the staff of the association. A very important part of the project in Rota Jovem will be dedicated to the development of one or more personal projects within the interests of the volunteers. The volunteers will have the possibility to share their knowledge by organizing some workshops, and can bring in new ideas and personal skills in other formal trainings and non- formal workshops we promote. With this organization of the project we intend to privilege the development of the volunteers' personal skills, thus creating both formal and non-formal opportunities. At the same time, the service of the volunteers will bring a strong added-value both to Rota Jovem and to the community in general, through the direct results of their work and through the different points of view that they will bring. This project will hopefully maximize the positive impacts by accomplishing the promotion of the general values and ideas of a volunteering mobility project, such as active citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans. EVS volunteers and also the youngsters and staff coming in contact with them will have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and learn about common values and cultural diversity within Europe.
