Creative Wave
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Feb 27, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Looking at our today's society, development and growth are strongly related with fluidity and constant change. We can identify this phenomena especially in the employment section where new demands arise and acquiring more skills is a given expectation. This has a strong impact upon youth's quality of life. Committed volunteers are constantly working in bridging the gap between market's requirements and youth's development, therefore the need of empowering creative, alternative ways of facing these challenges is needed. Moreover, in a changing society, developing emotional resilience has a strong impact upon generating opportunities of future investment and maintaining a balanced life. Encouraging a flexible and open mindset that allows creative self-expression can help building this strength. International organizations, like YFU and AEGEE promote these values and offer opportunities to acquire competences and experience that help developing a stronger society. The training course"" Creative Wave"" gathered 26 volunteers from 17 countries, active members in YFU and AEGEE organizations. The aim of this course was to empower participants by providing them with new, creative tools for expressing their thoughts, emotions and beliefs - tools which are powerful enough to engage and attract larger audiences, and thus able to create a bigger impact. The training course took place in Mollina, Spain, between the 21st and 28th of September 2014 and was part of the University on Youth and Development 2014. The flow of this course included practical workshops to enhance participants' creative input and communication, with a special focus on intercultural learning, expression and youth opportunities. The project aimed to increase young people's self confidence in being creative individuals that can generate alternative solutions to challenges they face. The methodology applied was part of non-formal and global education, with a self-directed learning approach. As training methods, forum theatre, visualization, movie making, creative writing and visual facilitation were used in order toe achieving the objectives and learning outcomes. ""Creative Wave"" helped participants develop transferable competences that are needed and desired in the employment area and that will increase their confidence in being able to deal with the unknown future in a creative way. Participation at this training course represented an investment in their personal growth and towards a more balanced life. As a result of this activity, “The volunteers' guide in boosting creativity "" was developed, containing guidelines for enhancing creative self-expression, mainly through artistic methods. The training course also facilitated creating a network of creative individuals that use artistic methods to express themselves and try to find alternative ways of approaching reality.
