Creative ideas to make English lessons more lively and interactive
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Title of the project "Creative ideas to make English lessons more lively and interactive"To foster ongoing and in-depth learning, teachers need to engage students through creative teaching methods. This can be done with the use of playful exercises and specific tasks set within an interdisciplinary project framework. The aim of this project is to assist teachers by providing them with a wide range of creative teaching and learning tools to accommodate different student needs. Teachers can use these tools in such a way that they can adjust them to suit student abilities. These means that teachers need to be aware of the learning environment, to ensure it is friendly and facilitates language acquisition. By this I mean methods that encourage students to engage in student-peer and student-teacher interaction (exchange eTwinning/date). Also authentic speech events that help students to practice speech acts such as requests, making and accepting suggestions, thanking, apologies, and accepting or refusing invitations are creative ways to facilitate student language acquisition. Through a full range of learning opportunities, age-appropriate methods, playful learning (storytelling) and a stimulating learning environment (English corner), students are supported in their language learning. Also, the level of language proficiency is to taken into account so the students' level and the pace of learning can be individually monitored. The project provides 2-3 hours of tuition per week, over the course of twelve months. This project is suitable for students between the ages of ten and fourteen. The cap is eighteen students per class. Planned project start is July 2016, ending in June 2017.
