One of the first kindergartens established in Transylvania, as early as 1895, ”Floare de colț” (Edelweiss) Kindergarten and After-Hours Care is a pillar of local community. Although Brad, where it is situated, is a relatively small town (13.900 inhabitants at the 2011 census), in the past five years the average number of children enrolled was as high as 240 (distributed in 10 groups according to age, 2 through 6 years old). At present, the kindergarten’s staff is comprised of 19 educators and 12 non-teaching staff. In our European Development Plan we set out to internationalize our teaching staff’s professional training with the goal of increasing the the quality of our teaching and learning processes and enhancing children’s progress. This project is the first specific activity in order to accomplish our strategic objectives. It is called “Creative & Critical Mind”, and it will take place between Jul 2016-June 2017 through the collaboration of our ”Floare de colț” (Edelweiss) Kindergarten and After-Hours Care in Brad, as sender association, and the association “EuroMind Projects” in Andalucia, Spain, as the training supplier, specialized in training and consultancy, with an experience of over 50 European projects finalized in the past three years. Goal of the project: Increasing the quality of the teaching and learning process.Objectives of the project: - Enriching the knowledge of the 5 participating teaching staff in what concerns methods specific to critical and creative thinking;- Increasing, by a minimum of 10% over the next 6 months, school and extracurricular performance of the children enrolled, following the use of the new methods;- 80% of the kindergarten’s teaching staff will be using methods specific to critical and creative thinking in the teaching process over the next few years;- 80% of the kindergarten’s teaching staff will promote changes in teaching practices, following the training stage. The project team, participating in the mobility project as training beneficiaries and also responsible with the project management, is the following: - Project manager, - Person in charge of continuous training, - Person in charge of European programmes and projects, - CEAC member ,- Person in charge of the kindergarten’s public relations. Description of activities:1. Constituting the project team – comprising five members: a project manager, a person responsible with human resource selection, one in charge of logistics, one in charge of monitoring and evaluation, one in charge of project dissemination and promotion. 2. Preparation: a) logistics and practical organization matters;b) project management;c) preparation of participants.3. Mobility activity: The main activity is the mobility to the training session on the ”Creative & Critical Mind”. The goal is to help the participating staff develop competences and abilities in effectively using methods to develop critical and creative thinking. The course will take place between 3-7 October in Seville, Spain.Each day of course covers one module in the training curriculum, with specific learning activities: ”Intellect-based education”, „Stimulating creative thinking”, „Stimulating critical thinking”, „Problem Solvers”, ”I know!-I want to know!- I have learned!”, „A creative way of saying Good-bye!”.4. Monitoring activitiesThe quality of the learning activities will be monitored through corelating it with performance indicators. The quality of the project will be monitored through correlation with impact indicators.5. Impact: quantifiable both in what concerns direct beneficiaries, as well as indirect beneficiaries. Long term effects in: teaching/learning styles, changes in the institutional strategy , child-centered education, improving the quality of the teaching/learning process.6.Dissemination: demonstrative activities, workshops, articles in specialized journals, PTA meetings, project blog, posts on the kindergarten’s website, platform posts, project portfolio, roll-ups, Erasmus+ Project Results7. Evaluation: final reports. While undertaking each step of the evaluation, the results of the project’s objectives and its effects can be assessed using effective methods and evaluation instruments. The long-term potential of the project: - Implementing methods of developing creativity and critical thinking, included in annual strategies of implementation of the curriculum; improving the teaching/learning process, - Offering opportunities to cooperate wth other European insitutions,- Significantly contributing to developing a European dimension to education in our kindergarten. We start from the presumption that our project will generate positive effects on our organization, by stimulating individual and organizational learning, and also through the contribution it can have to improving future projects.
