Creative Activities and Motivating Materials for the Secondary Classroom
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

We find it appropriate to support and promote teachers' continuing development in pedagogy and methodology, especially considering the low results that Swedish schools exhibits, including the PISA surveys. Swedish schools also have the mandate to ensure each student's needs and the teachers need to have continuous jacking and guidance, to generate new ideas and creativity. We want to send a teacher in-service training to England. This teacher has many years experience of teaching as she has been teaching languages, Swedish, English and French, and in recent years worked within the field special education. She is now working with the new arrivals and there the challenges are great both in terms of students' educational and language background and social background. In addition, there is great interest in international issues that are inevitable when working with these groups of students. The activities that the course provides; methodology, new material, modern English language, the inspiration for lessons and motivational activities is a concept that is consistent with Toreboda Central School's intentions for the teacher group. The methodology used in this course is teaching English with English teachers emphasizing particularly on new approaches and teaching methods. This is considered a viable approach for teachers who need to find new inspiration for the teaching of heterogeneous groups of students that the Swedish compulsory school has today. We believe that the outcome of this course will prove rapidly in the classroom where creativity and new material will be on hand to benefit the students. In addition, the applicant will spread their knowledge among colleagues, both in and outside school walls. In the long run, these spillovers will affect teaching at large in Toreboda Central School.
