Creating a European Professional Standard for Mountain Bike Instructor-Guides
Start date: Jan 1, 2017, End date: Dec 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Mountain biking currently has no agreed standard for the role of Mountain Bike instructor-guide, with training levels across Europe ranging from 1200 hours to just 14 hours, with some countries having no training system at all. This disparity creates low participation levels, unequal access to tuition and therefore decreased safety and marginalization of the sport's participants and professionals alike. By creating a European standard and delivering it to five initial partner countries the CAPSMTB project aims to legitimize and harmonize an area of sports instruction which currently has no consistency or structure at a European scale. This will bring benefits of increased HEPA participation and social inclusion, along with labour mobility, job creation knowledge sharing, creation of transnational dialogs, increased safety and quality assurance for participants and professionals alike.
