Through this partnership we intended to enable our students to explore the natural changes and natural beauties in their close environment. They closely observed the changes in the nature - such as change on plants, rivers, lakes, weather etc. - month by month all the year round and they kept records of them in order to exchange with their partner friends (by using new technologies, exchanging videos, powerpoint presentations, emails, video conferencing, blogs etc.). Then they were able to see simultaneous changes in different parts of Europe. As they discovered their environment, they also recognized the wrong intervention in the nature by human hands and they questioned the reasons. We wanted to raise their awareness of environmental problems and increase their motivation to take care for the natural environment through this partnership. The project also let the pupils explore different cultures and traditions through the active participation in the activities and exchanges. The youngsters were able to experience intercultural encounters with other young people from different backgrounds and cultures. The project aimed to show that people and their cultures might be different but the beauties in the nature and the environmental problems that we need to struggle against are the same. We have responsibilities for the environment. The ultimate aim of the project was to create more open-minded, creative, self-confident, sophisticated, nature friendly European citizens who are tolerant for cultural differences and responsive to their environment.
