Youth exchange project "Create yourself" for young people from 18 to 25 years old. It will involve young people with fewer opportunities, especially with the limited financial capabilities. There will be 32 youngsters from countries -Italy, Greece, Romania and Lithuania. Project goal is to develop the creative potential and decrease social exclusion of youth through making clothes, while demonstrating to the public the fashion industry bad influence on people.
- To attract young people with fewer opportunities (financially) from villages and small towns;
- Examine the impact that fashion industry has on us;
- Show the way for young people to be more creative and stylish without a lot of money;
- To develop self-confidence and tolerance;
- To reduce social exclusion.
Project participants will create their own clothes from old or second hand stores clothes. During 10 days of the exchange we will reveal not only the participants' creativity, but also the unknown side of the fashion industry, which damages our understandings, and many young people's lives. The project addresses the following topics: principles of working of the fashion industry and it's influence on young people, social exclusion, creativity, teamwork and others.
In the exchange participants will learn how to sew and create clothes, how to create their own projects / collections and to think about ways of presenting them. Once we have the collection of clothes we will deliver it in Trakai and Lentvaris society and at the same time we will share our thoughts about modern fashions and its impact on our lives. Project's duration is six months. During this we will have time to prepare for it properly, returned from exchange, we will share our collections with the local community. Collecton also will be added with new clothes, created by local youth. In project will be used non-formal education methods. Exchanges will be held in the training center Daugirdiškės.
