Create your European future
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Euro Future - the international youth camp was a huge success! The international youth camp "Euro Future - Create your European future" took place in Amt Trittau from July 27 to August 5. 2015. 40 young people aged 15 to 17 years from five different cultures of Europe made their way to Lütjensee youth hostel for an interesting and fruitful 10 days of entertainment. The young people came from the twinned municipalities of the Trittau community, from England, France, Poland, Finland and Germany. The aim of the Youth Exchange was to understand what living in Europe means and to motivate the young people to participate actively in shaping the future of the Twinning partnership and the European future. The theme of the Youth Exchange was "We are different and yet the same." Two experts for international youth exchange, Isabel Jensen and Nils Peters, planned the educational concept and led the camp. They were supported by the youth group leaders. At the beginning of the camp the youngsters presented their own country and culture. Following, the youngsters worked in mixed groups for all activities. In the three workshops graffiti, photo and movie as well as in the daily European seminars the participants worked intensively on the main theme of the camp. Each day the youngsters had the possibility to reflect and share their activities and experiences to be abel edit their Youthpass themselves later on. During the camp the youngsters had rotating tasks such as getting tables ready before meals, washing up, cleaning their rooms and rest rooms. The camp was a great success and wonderful experience for all participants. This was achieved through a well–balanced program including interactive activities as games, discussions, challenges, sport and excursions. It was particularly impressive that a complete mixing of all young people had taken place without cultural or linguistic barriers after a few days. There had been a great and friendly atmosphere among all participants and group leaders. The young people felt free to organise spontaneous activities as the choclate baking contest. They established "Euro Future Camp 2015" Faceebook page and WhatsApp group on its own initiative to share their experiences and impressions. The European idea has been lived from the beginning. At the end of the camp they presented their results to a broad audience of Amt Trittau. The presentation was a great success even the local press came to see the wonderful results of the workshops. Saying good-bye was hard for all participants. The evening before the end of the camp, all participants formulated wishes for the European future, which they tied onto a balloons and let them all go at the same time. The youngsters learned a lot about cultural differences and similarities in Europe. Friendships have forged and the young participants still have an intensive exchange through Facebook and Whats app. Impressions of the camps are available at: http://www.eurocamp2015.eu/ and on Facebook “Euro Future Camp 2015"
