CRAFTivity – Up to the Top with handcraft and creativity
Start date: Mar 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

During the last years the youth unemployment rate increased dramaticaly. On the one hand especially young academics don't find a job but on the other hand it's difficult to fill training positions in handcrafting enterprises. The EU youth strategy want to reduce the youth unemployment rate in the coming years. This project is a contribution to this goal. The main topic of the International Youth Camp "CRAFTivity - Up to the Top with handcraft and creativity" is occupational orientation of young people. 42 youth from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slowakia, Hungary and Germany take part on this exchange which will be held in Budapest from 14th to 23rd august 2015. In workshops, discussions, self studies, presentations and a future search the youth think about the professional life. The participants will think about the professional life of other generations and discuss differences and similarities. The main focus of the youth exchange lies on handcrafting jobs. The participants will have the possibility to try out practically different crafts. In a conversation with craftsmen and teacher from professional scools they have the possibility to ask about requirements for the different jobs. Furthermore they will have the chance for job shadowing in different enterprises. In a future search the youth will discuss about conditions on the european labour market and find a strategy to make handcrafting jobs more attractive. Methods of non formal education will help to upgrade handcrafting job's image and the interest to learn jobs like this.
