Search for European Projects

Correspondance à partir d'un album franco-britannique
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This training request is part of an intercultural project intended for pupils aged 6 to 12 in 2 French schools in Isere and 2 English-speaking schools of another European country. This project will be carried out for 12 months. We started from the following established points : the children need to make sense of their trainings and particularly the English training. They must tend to a cultural opening to Europe. The teachers as far as they are concerned need to improve their level of English and create links with new European partners in order to run an international project. Therefore, this project is aimed at 4 French classes and 4 European classes, that is around 180 pupils. It will involve directly 4 teachers and indirectly the teachers of 2 French schools and of the 2 European schools. It will be carried out jointly by us with the support of the school staff and director. It benefits also by the support of the National Education inspector, of the training agency SILC (Séjours Internationaux Linguistiques et Culturels) and of the town council. The first step in the preparation: creation of the project, linguistic preparation, research for partners. We will contact the SILC agency for the Erasmus training “Enhancement in English and methodology for teachers of primary schools”. This training programme includes : developing knowledge of the English language, methodology and application in classes, introduction to the school system, introduction to teaching aids in relation with information technology and communication, research work and time for reflection on the project. Then, this project will turn on letter writings (paper and digital) between 4 English-speaking classes and 4 French classes and a review of a book in English and in French (Flat Stanley) and the creation of a digital book in English with the classes of “penpals”. This project will be finalized with an exhibition gathering all the partners : town council, school, district officials, local media, penpals. The partners would have been selected on the e-Twining platform. We expect from this project to have a strong impact on our pupils in term of cultural opening, improvement in English and improvement in their dedication to work. Professionally, we increased an improvement of our English level, of our quality of teaching and a renewal in the teaching practices and a professional opening to Europe. In two classes, we set up connections in France, Germany and Vietnam in order to give meaning to learning by practicing the language for effective communication for the purpose of cultural openness. Students from each country were very motivated. This project around "Stanley travel" culminated in an exhibition in our school, open to all and to all our correspondents send by mail. Registration in eTwinning has been made, but produced no corresponding. However, the email communication has been greatly helpful. In the second class, the initial project has changed a little with the reception of a Canadian student in the classroom for a month. We have been in close contact with his family throughout the project, which has improved our cultural knowledge about Canada. The study of the book Flat Stanley has helped initiate correspondence with the Canadian class at first in French and in a second in English. This project has given meaning to our learning, opened our school to the world and allowed students to practice and improve English. We have a lot communicated by email with the Canadian school and family.
