Search for European Projects

Correspondance à partir d'un album franco-britanique
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This request for training is part of a cultural exchange project for students aged 6 to 12 years old, school if 2 French schools in Isere and 2 European English-speaking schools. This project will be achieved in 12 months. The request is for 2 teachers of 6 and 8 years-old experience in teaching and presently performing at the Commandant Cousteau school in Chavanoz. We noticed that: the students need to make sense to what they learn, particularly English. They need to open themselves to cultural Europe. The teachers, as far as they are concerned, need to improve their level of English and set up new European partnerships in order to develop an international project. This project is designed for 4 French classes and 4 European classes, that is about 180 students. It will directly involve the 4 teachers and indirectly the teachers of 2 French schools and 2 European schools. It will be led by us with the support of the schools’ teams and our director. The project benefits also from the supports of the National Education inspector, of the training agency SILC (Séjours Internationaux Lingusitiques et Culturels) and of the town council. The first step is the preparation that involves creation of the project, linguistic preparation and research of the partners. At this respect we contacted the SILC agency for the Erasmus training entitled “Building knowledge in English and methodology for Primary school teachers”. Development of the English language knowledge, methodology and practices in class, introduction to the school system, teaching aids in relation with information and communication technologies, research work and times of reflection are included in the programme. Than a correspondence (paper and digital) will be set up between the 4 English speaking and the 4 French speaking schools as well as a book study in English and in French (Flat Stanley) or the creation of a digital book in English made by the classes of penpals. The project will be finalized by an exhibition gathering the various partners : town council, school, district officials, local media, correspondents. The partnership would have been set up through the eTwinning platform. With this project we expect to have a strong influence on our students for cultural opening, improvement of the English level, increase in their commitment to work. As for adults involved in this project, we expect an improvement of our English level and of the quality of teaching, a renewal of our practices as well as a professional opening to Europe. In addition we plan to extend this project outside” of the school and to raise awareness of the town council, of the parents and of the junior high school team to a way of teaching English widely open to Europe. This linguistic and cultural opening to Europe will create positive points on a long term basis such as : use of new teaching aids (particularly digital ones), involvement of the schools and professionals in a European approach (increase of the international exchanges between classes particularly, increasing use of the eTwinnig aid and increase of the teachers going into traning programmes).
