COPERNICO - Pilot Project to Improve the Labour Market Integration of People with Physical and Sensory Disabilities

COPERNICO will undergo a series of training and information activities with the objective of developing and improving the abilities and individual skills of young people with disabilities (physical and sensory), in order to better facilitate their insertion into the labour market. An initial study will be undertaken across the four involved countries, as regards existing activities which aim to support labour market integration of young, disabled graduates.A training strategy will then be developed, in response to the identified training needs of this group, which will further lead to the development of a series of training modules. Training modules will focus upon preparation and support for individuals with physical and sensory disabilities, at the point of entering the labour market, and will provide both information and support in decision-making at this key stage (knowing the actual possibilities of the labour market, confronting problems, personal planning, job search). The training modules will be piloted with selected groups from the target sector. Training materials will be produced in paper-based and CD-Rom format and will exist in EN, ES & PT.The project will further work with individual employers in raising awareness of both the benefits and of the assistance available to the those employing persons with physical and sensory disabilities, this will be effected via the hosting of a series of information seminars and through the production of information leaflets for circulation to a selected target group of employers in each partner country.
