COOPERATION WITH EUROPEAN INSTITUTIONS IN VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND CURRENT EDUCATIONAL ISSUES

Our school aim is to establish a solid cooperation with European Vocational organizations. Based on our development plan we are looking forward to gain such nodal properties, capabilities and skills needed in society of 21st century, to improve in matters concerning students communication skills in other languages, working with others in foreign countries which will help them live and work independently, develop their personality, self-esteem, competence and skills. Furthermore, this program will help both teachers and students to be acclimated with labor European data and prepared to use EQF (European Qualification Framework) and CYQF (Cyprus Qualification Framework) since our accession in Europe requires changing of our school analytical programs based on these data. Find new collaboration tools between teachers and students but at the same time new teaching methods in order to approach students and create a better learning environment. Last but follows important is finding ways for extra funding which is always a challenge.The students of the catering department during their second year in school, must undergo practical training in hotel and catering establishments for 20 weeks, a pre-requisite for obtaining their school certificate. The same applies for the students of the electrical engineering and art and design, they have to undergo practical training of 180 hours. Finally the students of baking and pastry have to undergo practical training of 6 weeks in bakeries or confectioneries in order to obtain their certificate.All teaching and administration staff have work experience within the field and work closely with the required industry. The administration of our school, having in mind the need for further personal and professional development of the educators, staff and students of the school, decided that 3 members of the administration, 10 educators and 58 students should take advantage of the benefits that Erasmus+ Program offers. This mobility project consists of four main activities:Activity 1 : A group of Educators of the sending organization will observe and attend various lectures and practical training concerning methods and teaching skills that the receiving organization follows. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to teach lectures of similar courses using teaching techniques that we use as well. Also they will have the opportunity to get familiar with EQF system since they will be asked to apply CYQF system in our renewed curriculum the coming school year.Activity 2 : Students of Hotel and Catering department will attend a two week work experience in hotels and restaurants in the area of Riga. Our analytical curriculum includes International Cuisine, so this exercise will be part of it. Students from Baking and Pastry Department will attend a two week work experience in bakeries and confectioneries in the area of Athens.Activity 3 : Students of Art and Design :The Participant students will attend art and design workshops on subjects like drawing, painting , sculpture, photography, design and visual advertising that will be prepared in collaboration with our partners. Students of Electrical Engineering Department: The participants will attend classes in the receiving school in Crete and visit various companies on their field of expertise. Also they will attend educational trips.Activity 4: Management Team: A group of administrators will visit similar to our vocational and technical school in order to examine new methods and trends that they introduce in order to improve management skills, discuss current educational issues, find out ways for extra funding for the benefit of our school unit and students and highlight points to make it more attractive, and finally increase our graduates employability. Also examining how EQF system is incorporated in the curriculum is an important objective for this mobilityOur Institution will carry out the management of the project, as explained in section F of this application. Our school will work closely with our partners in order to set up the learning agreements, concerning the procedures that all of the partners will follow and set up the standards for meeting the desired learning outcomes of the project. Upon completion of the Mobility project an evaluation will take place based on the preparation and the actions that have been taken. The results of the whole evaluation will be communicated to the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Management of the school and the National Agency of LLP.Also our results of the project will be shared through photos on our School website, a booklet and a DVD, an event where we will present dishes that students learned during the program.Our guests will also have the opportunity to visit an exhibition (students' design and implementation of projects based on the hands on experience they gained) prepared by the electrical engineering and the art and design departments.
