Continuing Professional Development for Hall Meadow Primary School

This project is intended to inform the practice of teaching and learning to secure the best possible outcomes for children, particularly those identified as vulnerable. By exploring highly effective practice in international contexts, it is our intention to inform our own curriculum development to secure high levels of pupil engagement so that they persevere in acquiring the key knowledge and skills necessary to support across all areas of learning. Our aim is to enrich our curriculum with pedagogic practices that attend to the need to motivate learners, create an understanding of diversity and inclusion and foster a culture of sharing. Training opportunities are intended to inform the practice of those across all areas of the school organization including teaching, support staff and the leadership pertaining to these. It is intended that new practice is disseminated more widely through the school's network providing support for schools in challenging circumstances. By linking with local partner schools engaged in similar training experiences, we intend to create a sustainable forum for professional dialogue and further learning across our local network. This project will engage six staff members in receiving training in three different countries and will focus on the development of innovative and highly effective practice in the areas of literacy, mathematics and leadership. Staff have been selected on the basis that they can impact directly on the work of the school and are also in a position to disseminate practice more widely across other schools. The clear long term benefits of this project are envisaged as contributing to the development and leadership of a curriculum which fully engages pupils, promotes international links and secures high standards for all groups of learners. It is also intended that effective practice be disseminated more widely to secure high standards in other contexts.
