Consumers want EKOenergy
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jan 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

EKOenergy is a network of environmental organisations. We promote renewable electricity. EKOenergy is also the only international ecolabel for electricity. We started in 2012, and since then, we are progressing quite well. See http://www.ekoenergy.org/about-us/history/ A lot of this progress happened thanks to the active participation of volunteers, in particular EVS volunteers based at the EKOenergy Secretariat. Under the project ""Consumers want EKOenergy"" we had the following objectives: - We particularly wanted to guarantee that our work in Italy is continuated. This is almost impossible without a native speaker. (Or at least somebody fluent in Italian). - While continuing to work on the countries where we have been active in 2013 and the first half of 2014, we also wanted to expand our scope to Poland and Austria. In Poland we have an active NGO partner. Austria was a logical step after Germany Both volunteers have been actively involved in the translation of our texts (see www.ekoenergy.org/it and www.ekoenergy.org/pl). They helped develop EKOenergy's communication on renewable energy and they have actively contacted electricity suppliers, CSR departments of companies and other stakeholders in their country. We also actively communicated about the new Greenhouse Gas Protocol Scope 2 standard (carbon accounting for purchased electricity) which was published in January 2015. This is particularly relevant for many of the corporate consumers with whom we are in contact. The volunteers were embedded in the EKOenergy team (which is a part of the Environment Protection Department of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation).
