Consolidation, enhancement and promotion of the tourist maritime and fluvial port system in the Upper Adriatic (PORTOLANDO)
Start date: Nov 30, 2004, End date: Nov 29, 2006 PROJECT  FINISHED

PORTOLANDO aims at consolidating nautical maritime-fluvial tourism by means of targeted actions leading to the retrieval of routes and thematic itineraries that are often unknown, in order to promote the Upper Adriatic territory, its history, culture and natural beauty. As the territory is often characterized by watercourses and navigable lagoons of historical and architectural interest, the project intends to rediscover and promote waterways and internal lagoons, with particular emphasis on an environment-friendly and sustainable nautical activity. The project aims at making more accessible to national and international pleasure watercraft the Upper Adriatic tourist port system: in order to improve information flows and provide assistance to both tourists and operators, a joint network (website) will be set up, for the tourist ports of the Veneto region and of nearby Slovenia. Thanks to this network the number of tourists can be increased and the local attractions enhanced. Moreover, the Guide to ports and docks in the Upper Adriatic (printed by Touring Club Italiano) contributes to promote the networks visibility, making available to the tourists itineraries that would otherwise remain unknown.
