Conservation and Digitalisation of the Collection of the Relic Museum Arad (AREMU)

The collection of the onetime Relic Museum of Arad was documenting the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence with its 17.000 objects. This valuable public property hidden in the storehouses of the Museum of Arad would decay without conservation. The core objective of the project is to preserve and to make the closed collection of the Relic Museum of Arad available for the public. Another purpose of the project is to digitalize the objects and set up a digital database. After the successful finalization of this project in the future we aim to set up a new project for the restoration and presentation of the collection.The general objective of the project is to make the collection available for further research after the necessary conservation of the collection has been completed. Target groups: historians, museum specialists, public.The main specific activities of the project are: organizing two conferences, trainings and seminars, organizing accompanying cultural programmes, publishing monographs.Main results: 2 conferences with 300 participants, 2 training programmes with 50 participants, cultural programmes with 400 participants, 1800 copies published.
