Conoscere per innovare
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school “Istituto Comprensivo di Fondo” is proposing a new project. We are located up in the Alp Mountains on the border with South Tyrol. Our area is continuously in contact with our neighboring German inhabitants. It is entitled "Conoscere per innovare (discovering for improving)" and it directly involves 10 of our teachers along with our headmaster; the teachers who will be taking part, will also travel abroad. They are key figures inside our school organization as far as internationalism in being considered. We do not want to include only foreign language teachers; actually there will be a mixture of teachers who teach different subjects. In fact, some teach in primary school while others at middle school. Our goal is to to find new ways of how to teach a foreign language by speaking it through the use of CLIL. We want to enrich our school system and enhance our quality; not only in our school but in our whole county. Important effects for our school community will be motivating people in teaching and learning, increasing flexibility, developing other projects that deal with internationalism, and mostly, providing everyone with a thrust for something innovative. Specifically "Conoscere per innovare" aims to: • improve the language skills of the participants; • assist and widen teaching abilities, discover new methods and help organize fresh ideas; • provide our school with a group of teachers as leaders through the skills acquired and promote a process of educational innovation seeking to attain an educational success of all students; • find new ways of improving the quality of the teaching-learning process; • offer solid opportunities of different paths of teaching / learning in a European dimension; • create a process of internationalism in our school. The main steps regard the training of teachers in the United Kingdom and Germany, and the diffusion and exploitation of the results and the elements acquired that will gradually be useful for our school. "Conoscere per innovare" will permit a considerable number of teachers to have an important experience in terms of comparison and improvement inside the European Community. Teachers will also establish important contacts for professional exchanges both virtual and real. The knowledge and experience obtained will also give way to future collaborations and for further projects of internationalism. Accomplishing language skills, getting involved in something totally new, and defining the goals that are to be achieved will permit teachers to face important challenges that schools of today and tomorrow are called to overcome. With this project, our duty is to expand knowledge, not only to our school, but to the entire territory where we belong by collaborating with other schools in our area.
