Connecting European Education

The Project put forward is a synthesis of a job-shadowing activity and training courses abroad which have been planned to be developed within the next two years. We are of the opinion that the job performed by teachers in other EU countries might become the most enriching professional way of improvement. The knowledge of other teaching-learning methods, techniques or approaches not only contributes to every teacher’s personal enrichment but also to the whole educational and social community. Thus, the set objectives in the School Plan can be optimized by implementing new ideas and methodological or logistic strategies acquired during training periods at other schools. This activity has been scheduled for Secondary Education teachers both in the sociolinguistic and scientific- technological areas and also for Vocational Training teachers of IT, Administration and Finance, and Commerce. Most participating teachers have been regular cooperators in the Comenius European Project; nevertheless, in view of the interest shown in this Project, the number of participants has been expanded following an outreach campaign at school. It has been fostered by the managing team with the aim of improving teaching standards. We aim at analyzing the similar but at the same time different educational reality, taking part in school and extracurricular activities of the receiving organization, and afterwards spreading the acquired knowledge in our context. The contents to be worked are both educational and logistic ones. In the methodological field we particularly aspire to putting new procedures into practice at our own school. We will insist on the outcome and impact in our own reality. The activities scheduled are manifold: school integration, participation in lessons as observants and teachers, analysis of school functioning, and so on, but shall be agreed upon by teachers at the host school. Evaluation will be carried out in three moments: initial, midterm and final so as to construe achievements throughout the process. One of the objectives to be weighed up in the Project is spreading it at our school and surroundings, so all means at our reach will be used to maximize the teaching-learning process: talks and debates, exhibitions, web pages, etc . The whole community will be involved (School Council, Departments, studensts, families) as well as institutions outside the school milieu. Keep in contact with and share experiences with other schools in the province also taking part in similar projects. Meetings to exchange experiences or unify performance criteria; in addition, show willingness to assess and help other schools intending to share our profesional porfolio.
