Connecting East and North II
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Jan 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project is bringing together 5 former Soviet Union countries - Estonia, Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus and Russia. While each of the counties have somewhat similar points history, they have nonetheless developed in very different paces after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. They all have different identities, culture, social background and experience. The organisations of these countries will either be with coordinating, sending or receiving organisations for youth exchanges, in this project specifically -volunteering. 8 organisations participating will either be coordinating - MTÜ NOORTEVAHETUSE ARENGU ÜHING ESTYES (Estonia); sending: Alternative-V (Ukraine), Union Forum (Ukraine); HUJ (Armenia), LYVS (Belarus), SFERA (Russia) or receiving: Ida-Virumaa County's Chamber of Disabled People, AS Hoolekandeteenused Imastu Residential School, Lilleküla Shelter for Children, Mustamäe Open Youth Centre, Lasnamäe Gymnasium, Laagna Kindergarten-Primary School, Kohila Rural Municipality and Tallinn Children's Home Shelter for Children. This project is aiming for closer and better partnership between these countries. With the help of the volunteers we are able to discover more closely how youth work and working with children in different aspects is done in their home countries which would then via the volunteers bring the knowledge, experience, methods and practices to the hosting countries. This, in the long run, should help all the countries towards a common future, where democracy and prosperity, a climate of peace, development of European values like individual freedom, democratic values, equality, tolerance, solidarity and the protection of human rights is cherished.
